Tokyo – 03/14/2018
For those who haven’t heard, I’ll be leaving early Friday morning, 3/16 for two weeks in Japan. And it’s going to be a whirlwind trip….
Between the long flight, and 15-hour time difference, I’ll arrive in Tokyo mid-afternoon on Saturday.
With barely any time to get settled in my apartment, that same evening there is a Kinbaku Live show by Osada Steve at StudioSIX in Ikebukuro.
From 3/18-3/31, a club called DX Kabukicho in Shinjuku will be hosting its semi-annual SM Live performances – about 150 shows total. I won’t be able to make (let alone afford) anywhere near to all of them, but do expect to attend a fair number of performances by many of Kinbaku’s biggest names – as well as some you’ve never heard of. I was there this past September, and though the club is rather dingy, the performances were amazing.
This may be one of the last chances to see a set of performances like this. There is rumbling in Tokyo about cracking-down on clubs like DX before the Summer Olympics in 2020. To say people in the SM world around Tokyo are nervous would be a bit of an understatement.
While in Tokyo, I will be continuing my own Kinbaku training with 6 days one-on-one with Osada Steve, and another with Kinoko Hajime.
Clubs to visit, friends to see, parties to attend – at this point I have little more than 2 of my 14 days in Japan free to simply be a tourist, and do a little shopping.
Enjoy the ARG event and class while I’m gone!
