Semi-Open Kinbaku is a group workshop hosted by agoodcuppajoe and KinbakuNM. Please join us to learn Shibari (Japanese rope bondage) from the ground up. This workshop is suitable for people who have never touched rope before, up to intermediate level. If you have an interest in Japanese Rope Bondage, this group workshop is a great way to learn the basics of Shibari.

In Level-1, people new to Rope will learn basic rope handling, a single-column tie (how to tie a loop around an arm or leg), double-column tie (for tying more than one limb together), and progressing to a simple “TK” (hands behind back bondage).

Level-2 students (must have completed Level-1) will learn the entirety of a basic TK including correct tension, and the small details that make it work correctly when progressing to more advanced techniques. Keep in mind that even if you are already familiar with some form of the TK, the beauty of Shibari is in the details, and there is much to be learned in perfecting these. Other techniques will be added as you progress.

Learning Shibari takes time and practice, with attention to detail. Don’t expect to learn everything in a couple of lessons. But you will go home from all of these classes with techniques you can use on your own.

Space is Limited:
This Workshop is limited to 3-4 tying couples. A small group allows us to give you better instruction and more attention.

Rope:
Please bring at least 3 or 4 lengths of rope, preferably Jute, 7-8 meters in length, and 5-6mm in diameter.
If you do not have rope of your own, we do have rope you can use for the class.

Bottom/Model:
You are responsible for bringing someone to tie. If you don’t have a bottom, let us know. If there are solo-bottoms who RSVP, we will attempt to pair you with someone.

Dress:
We recommend you wear comfortable clothes. Bottoms should wear something relatively form-fitting (shorts and t-shirt are fine), but nothing too slick as rope sometimes has a hard time staying in place on synthetics.

Roles:
There will be no switching during classes. The person tying initially must be the person tying for the duration of the workshop.

PLEASE be serious about your intention to attend. Space is Limited. Repeated no-shows may be excluded from attending future workshops.

When:
Semi-Open Kinbaku is hosted monthly, on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. Future events will be scheduled based on the best time for everyone participating. Other events may also be created, based on input from attendees.

Semi-Open Kinbaku is hosted by KinbakuNM. This isn’t a “skill-share” with random, often incomplete, and sometimes dangerous information coming from inexperienced “riggers”. Agoodcuppajoe is a qualified Practitioner of Kinbaku, whose ongoing training comes from some of the best in the world. He is the only such practitioner in New Mexico.
KinbakuNM believes firmly in the concept of “exchange of value”. If you apply yourself, you will get your money’s worth from this workshop.

Vetting:
This is NOT an Open Event. All participants – Tops and Bottoms – Must be Vetted to be included. But Vetting isn’t a big deal.
Basically, if you have not previously been vetted to attend a non-public KinbakuNM event, please PM Agoodcuppajoe. Introduce yourself, and give a brief summary of your interest and experience with Rope Bondage. It is okay if you haven’t done this before – just let us know.
Please understand that these events are held in a Private Space, and Vetting is to ensure the safety and pleasurable experience of all in attendance.
